Well
about me, usually a person of few words, but since you've come here, I
guess you want to know a little about me. Okay here goes: I was born in
The Netherlands (a.k.a. Holland) I emigrated to New Zealand almost 17
years ago and have just recently moved from Christchurch to the Bay of
Plenty. I grew up in a 'creating' home environment, Mom was always busy
with crafts of some sort and Dad was our inventor from his backyard
shed. I had a great Art teacher at High-school who really inspired me
and edged me on in the creative field. I ended up working with fabrics
firstly when I studied at the 'Academie de Couture' (Fashion Academy and
textile arts) in Rotterdam. I also designed covers for computer-games
(mostly Science Fiction) on a free-lance basis and worked in a variety
of areas in the fashion industry from concept design to creations.
My
re-focussing to sketching and painting began again when the feeling to
create images on paper, wood or canvas won from the other creative
exploits, still like to include fabrics if I can. So I mainly work with
Mixed Media on wood panels or canvas, that gives me the freedom to
choose whatever medium fancies me at that moment or for that particular
project. My work is probably best described as whimsical illustrative
