Angry Fish vs Angry Birds

 ><(((☼> ♥ <☼)))><
I have created a couple of Angry Fish, allthough I must say I like birds too, so Angry Birds could have easily slipped off my pen, but they already existed of course. All jokes aside, I am into fishies at the moment and these were a couple of watercolours I did on the couch last week when I was again sitting there with my swollen (yes again) knee up. I also gave them cute little custom painted frames and I can't help but laugh everytime I see them. But keep your eyes peeled for more fishies to come swimming into this blog soon <☼)))><

Autumn Trees in Aquarel

I don't seem to have too much time at the moment for larger projects, so I have been playing a bit in my journals. This spread is a try-out of a landscape in aquarel {watercolours} Something I don't often do, but thought to attempt. Of course there is a little coloured pencil {in the details of the meadow and a little in the shaded areas of the trunks} and acrylic paint {the red berries} I can never just do one medium.....The right page leaves me enough space to write a bit, I have just the right purple fountain pen to do this :)
I do need to practice this technique more though, but it is fun !

And the Wind Cries .......

This looks SOOOOOOOO much better in real life !

My first diptych or work in two joining canvasses.
{Click HERE for a larger view} It has been a long time coming. After listening to this particular song again in December last year {see this post} I felt it cried out for me to paint it somehow. It is a song by the legendary Jimi Hendrix and whenever he jumps into my mind I see purple {probably because of that other famous song of his "Purple Haze"} So somehow I combined the two and I wanted it to be like a thin wind or haze of some sort. In her hair are the full lyrics to the song, with the minor adjustment of 'your name' instead of Mary {so that it speaks to us all}

'After all the jacks are in their boxes
And the clowns have all gone to bed
You can hear happiness staggering on down the street.
Footsteps dressed in red
And the wind whispers your name
A broom is drearily sweeping
up the broken pieces of yesterdays life
Somewhere a Queen is weeping
Somewhere a King has no wife
And the wind cries your name
The traffic lights, they turn uh blue tomorrow
And shine their emptiness down on my bed
The tiny island sags down stream
cause the life that lived is,
is dead
And the wind screams your name
Uh-will the wind ever remember
The names it has blow in the past?
'n with this crutch, its old age, and its wisdom
It whispers no, this will be the last
And the wind cries your name'

Older Artworks dusted off

I am having a HUGE cleanout at home and I found two old attempts at watercolouring I think I did them in 1995. One is of a Kotuku or New Zealand White Heron, the other of the famous Moeraki Boulders, a strange, alien appearance off the coast close to Dunedin -read more by following the embedded links Thought I'll just share them with you, sometimes it's nice to find some old stuff like this

The Murky Waters Nixie

A digital play as preview to my "Murky Waters Nixie"
I will have to photograph her tomorrow with daylight.
I am not an aquarel expert by all means, but I did this one on watercolourpaper with watercolour paint and pencils and then I added inks, stamps, acrylics, glaze, more watercolouir paint and at last some Golden glass bead gel which I covered with some more diluted sparkly paints.
She is my "Halloween" project for this year,
since I am all submerged with the water sprites.....
