things just keep happening !

Things haven't been quiet or boring after the mural competition in Katikati (see previous post)  Straight after I had a full week of busy busy kids-school-holiday classes at the studio AND looking for another house for us to call home. Then the new schoolterm started this week with all the regular classes starting (7 all in all and, yes, thanks we found a home, so now we are packing seriously !)

Last night saw the grand opening of the Incubator in the Historic village
(you know where I helped painting the Day of the Dead piano a few weeks ago - see post HERE too) I hope the photos will be posted soon, it was awesome ! There was music, drums, fire poi dancing, the place was buzzing !!! My painting "Specimen#14" is in their first exhibition called "Cell division" Check it out !

Today I will be packing a big box of mainly driftwood goodies to go over to my friends workshop gallery "Off the Bench" again for next long weekend
which means I need to seriously start making new ones for my own studio/gallery. If you are in NZ and are looking for some, check out the stockists list HERE Also I will be delivering my "Rosalita" to Lightwave Gallery today. She will be part of their Day of the Dead Exhibit (to open Thursday 24th, yes that is next week already !) No rest for the wicked huh ? Will try to keep you all updated with all the latest news, because more is brewing...

I just wanted to share with you that I love wood, I love trees, old trees I can hear them talk... I also love wood to work on, I collect driftwood and fallen branches and pieces of reclaimed wood. Every now and then of course I will have to buy "new" wood. Like this Monday I went to check out a nice big macrocarpa slab for a sign I am commissioned to make....stay posted I will share ! For now I am sharing a couple of new Angels I finished ♥ Have a great week ♥

Finding peace with the Angels

it's been so busy with so many things in my life that I find a little peace and quiet every time I create another driftwood Angel. This is the latest, her name is "Precious"

Ange Noir ~ the dark One

Ange Noir 58 x 12 cm
I finally got my hands on the perfect piece of driftwood for the dark Angel, I call her "Ange Noir" {French for Black Angel} just because it sounds so wonderful like that. I adore her, really happy with how she turned out.

just a thought

Yesterday while I was walking on a beach { I walk many beaches nowadays: Eastcoast, westcoast, whenever and wherever we are } The kids enjoy playing in the surf -it's summer here you know- and I wander the coastline in search for driftwood. Sometimes I find a lot of nice pieces, sometimes there is not so much or only small pieces....so yesterday I was thinking that the ocean decides what I get on that particular day. I feel the ocean to be a male and he provides for me, whatever I seem to need. I thought how strange it has happened that when I was stuck and full of selfdoubt yet again, I suddenly started to see these Angels appear in the driftwood. Not all the pieces I pick up work, often I look at them and see nothing, or I think I see a beginning and hold a piece for a while, walk with it, feel it and I still decide to give it back to the sea. Funny thing though that when I ask others, they don't always see the sea, the ocean as a man. Some say she is a woman....but for me, he is a man {well, I think most often he is} and here is a little love he gave me a couple of weeks ago ♥

Oh, and more Angels and Mermaidens are on "Angels at my Table"

Salty Kisses and sandy toes ;)

exploring the ocean

You all know I have been making many Angels lately and they fill me with a hugely blessed feeling. Just check out my Angels at my Table for all things Angelic I make. It is also summer here though, yes, still feels funny around Christmas time, but summer is also nice, I love warm weathe, it means beach and sand and sea and ocean and mermaids of course. So I diverted just a little last week when I was in a sunny mood and made this "Dot" She turned out rather sultry and especially with Mr.Pink Flamingo I helped my student make. Check them out together, almost looks like true love ♥ {hehe} I promise my next post will be more Christmassy and I will keep the "hot stuff" for after those Festive lazy dayz ;)
