Happy New Year !

To all my Blog followers and other visitors
I wish you all a Happy Happy New Year !
Here in Kiwi Land we're already 2.5 hours into the New Year,
I just got back from a BBQ+party at friends
and we had a great night together...
A wonderful start to a promising year ahead.

I'll go and have a sleep now, but thought I'll share with you my New Years Wishes and some pics of Sparklers, just because I really like the little stars that jump off these sticks and Oliebollen (they're the doughnut type yummie balls us Dutchies like to have on New Years Eve)

Well I've had 5 afternoons of Art Workshops

with a group of kids.

Pre Christmas Workshop.It was FUN !

But now I am ready for Christmas, to put my feet up and have a bit of quiet Art time for myself....hopefully......

I saw this great cartoon by Garrick Tremain in a Magazine this week,
I just had to save it somehow
so I made a page in my altered-diary-journal

(which is basically a beautiful diary from last year where I want to alter pages, make some completely of my own
and sometimes try to incorporate the existing photographs)

I used my Pan Pastels for this one and I cannot tell you how SMOOTH this feels to the touch, those Pan pastels are AMAZING !

The Year of the TIGER 虎

I am a Tiger, a Water Tiger to be precise, so I just had to make an entry in my Moleskine for this.

I also want to try some animals instead of pretty faces....it's quite exciting !

Pisces

...the two fish in the basket symbolise a dear departed Pisces I knew...
..the seven frolicking little gold fish symbolise new life...
...well, that's what my thoughts behind this sort of were...
...She just grew the way she turned out, I didn't think a lot about it,
...but she is as soft as I wanted her to be...

Spoiled again

I feel blessed, I really have some very special friends.
Eventhough their "thing" is not really Art, but more Craft like patchwork and quilting, they have made such a grand effort choosing my gifts for my Birthday !
They must have spent hours wondering through the Art supply store and gifted me some beautiful Soft Pastels, crayons, palet knives and a Pan Pastel !!!
All this beautifully packed in a box with chocolate hearts
("you have to have hearts on a Valentines Birthday")
and....there even was a voucher !
for me to choose something off my Art wish list.
So today I went and bought some more Pan Pastel colours and some markers.
Again I feel so spoiled ! but I feel wonderful !

I have set myself a challenge for this year,
I am going to make a spread in my Moleskine Journal
everytime the stars indicate the start of a new Zodiac sign.
So this is the first of the year.

I am struggling with this Zettiology style,

I would love to get one page right, but so far......

I am happy enough with the portrait part of it, but don't know about the rest, I'll take a break for a while and might get back to it again sometime. In the mean time I'll watch Teesha Moore's instructions a bit more...

Some Day My Prince will come

after watching Corpse Bride by Tim Burton before Christmas, I got inspired to make something Tim Burtonesque as well. So this is sort of a combination of that and the Frog Prince (I've got a thing for frogs you might have noticed)
