I did a quick entry in my Moleskine, I wanted to try and show how good it feels to DREAM and dream BIG.
Because I felt the need to escape in dreams today.
I am going to move to another town soon and that means of course, that I need to go through a lot of stuff, because I keep A LOT of stuff (I hoard a lot of stuff) and then sometimes you forget what stuff is actually there and while sorting through piles of this kinda stuff, you can suddenly find really NICE old stuff, that makes you stop for a little while and remember WHERE you got that or WHEN that picture was taken...and WHO took it.... This particular picture must have been taken in 1985 or so and it was in Paris and I picked up this magazine "JOYCE" and I loved it immediately, how could I not, it had MY NAME on it !!! and I still must have that magazine somewhere, but haven't found it just yet...and I just Googled it...and it STILL exists !! ....well, I thought I quickly share this with you and then I'll be going back to more sorting and packing......
Guess what.....One of my "non-art" posts here, had to share some of our winter fun with you.
We woke up to snow, which doesn't happen here very often, so no school today for the kids....we had to build a snow man of course and the snow is beaut for building ! Ha !!
A work in progress still, this is the first step, coloured pencil sketch, I have yet to decide how to go further still. I like the dreamy gaze, where is it going ? what does she think ? I also wanted to try out the "rounded corners" in Photoshop, so wanted to share this with you.
Pippi Longstocking orPippi Långstrump has been my muse, even my alter ego for quite a while. I was Pippi when I was 9 years old and won the first prize on a dress up party (see picture on te right here, yes that is me !) I used to watch Pippi programs and I still love to see them. I never get tired of her adventures and I love her free spirit and her endless positivity. She can take on the world, so at the moment I need some of the same....so here are a couple of Pippi's I have done....just to get me in the mood and then I will put on a DVD and watch some episodes again, channel her joy and gutsiness. TjollaHopp !!
I met Manon quite a while ago now, lately she had been a bit monochromatic, but she obviously has found colour again and she has even put on a Giveaway on her blog ! I love these little girls she has made, if you like them too, jump over to her blog and join in as well :-)And check out the rest of her blog, she is an amazing artist ♥
Knight Landesman, publisher of ArtForum is in Auckland at the moment, I saw a small interview with him on the news last night. And I just had to share this quote with you. In answering the question if in these difficult (financial) times Art is still important enough for people, he said "...Yes, because Art can give you very steady pleasure in life..." and I thought YES ! so true Art Saves, Art Heals and Art does give very steady pleasure each and every day !
Last night a couple of my friends and I organised a Mad Hatters Tea Party for a dear friend of ours. I did this card to go with the Fairy cakes I made and the Tea mug I got her ~*~
