Maximum Impact - Minimum Effort

Maybe some of you have heard me say this already ? I am working towards a certain goal this year. It is one of Goddess Leonie's sayings : "Maximum Impact - Minimum Effort" and allthough at this moment I make HUGE amounts of effort with just very little impact..... I BELIEVE the first statement must be achievable. One of Leonie's wonderful tools is this VERY affordable 2012 Creating your Goddess Year workbook, planner & calendar. It has been incredibly popular & useful to help you plan out & make happen your most incredible year yet. Sounds cool huh ? Guess I'll start there. If you like the sound of this, why not follow the link and grab one yourself ! Over the last three years apparently thousands of women have used this workbook with the most amazing results. It’s the best planning tool available to help you make your year more inspiring than ever. It’s filled with over 100 pages of worksheets & a printable calendar to help you dream, manifest, set your intentions, plan & cultivate your amazing new year. The workbook has been lovingly handwritten & rainbow illustrated… perfect for you to print out, soak up the rainbow colours, get thoroughly inspired ! You’ll get clarity on what you need 2012 to be. What you want to create during it. And most importantly, how to make it happen. There still is plenty of time, it's only the start of February. Have one yourself now !

The Golden Fish

"Staring over the water, gazing into the sky,
determination sparkled vaguely in her eyes.
Confidence and belief entered her being,
now was the time to go out
and catch the coveted Golden Fish"

I made this yesterday on watercolour paper. It tells a little story (at least it does to me) I am busy trying to design a new life for myself, one I love and will be proud of and that can support my kids, my family and that they can be proud of as well. Scared but also pretty determined, confident that it can succeed. I mean, if I pour my heart and soul into it it can only succeed, right ? So when I mindlessly sketched and started playing with watercolour paint this started to form and started to talk to me and it showed me determination and that it is about time to catch the golden fish, time to succeed. I think it told me to take another plunge, another leap. Trust the universe and just go for it. Crossing my fingers just in case....

Meet Amelia and Nolwenn

Meet Nolwenn and meet Amelia the protective dreamer
I will try to explain in short why and how.... The first time I met Nolwenn was last year, I don't even know anymore through which other on-line-art friend, but I read that she was looking for a name for the Innervoices-girls she paints. And she chose my suggestion (Nixies) -YAY !- and then she sent me a print of my choice as a thank you......:)
And then in December I saw a photo she posted on her Facebook page
and I felt drawn to paint this beautiful face, probably because of those eyes, it's just a feeling I sometimes get. So I thought it would be kinda nice to join her with Amelia, make those two dreamers one. I hope she'll like it, I added a few subtleties, I'm gonna send it off to her tomorrow.
Thanks Nolwenn for the inspiration xoxo
If you like this style of portraits, I am available for commissions, just contact me here   -And don't forget to enter my Blog Give-away too, the winner will be drawn on 9 January ! (I know I added lots of links in this post, I am a curious person and like to share all the fun background information with you as well)

Crash and the Bad Dream

Ooohhhh, I had so many things I still wanted to post before the New Year and then, when editing some video material, the computer crashed and this was a MAJOR one and took FOREVER to get right. I still had the laptop (Halleluja) but all my images were on THIS computer....... so I will just make a quick post before we head into the countdown to 2012 (only 5+ hours to go here) Here I'll share a colour play I did in my journal yesterday....I had a bad dream this week that suddenly showed itself when I was doing this entry in one of my journals. So, I thought it was so fitting with the whole way I felt about the computer issue (up until this moment....yay ! the computer works again !!!! Thank heavens, I've got me such a wiz guy!) So ALL the other things ....I will post in 2012......see you then ♥

Somewhere over the Rainbow -by me-

Here's my latest entry I did in my journal. Partially done on the ferry between South and North Island and finished last night at my new home amongst boxes still to be unpacked.... I just had to do something creative, couldn't stand it any longer. The spread in my Moleskine shows a little how I feel at the moment, like jumping in a deep deep pool with my eyes covered and taking a plunge.....where will we end up ? Adventure and excitement, but also uncertain and a bit scary. I need to play art some more, maybe will find a bit of time tonight again.....but will start putting things away first now, finding places for all our stuff....need to get that done as well...

A penny for her thoughts

A work in progress still, this is the first step, coloured pencil sketch, I have yet to decide how to go further still. I like the dreamy gaze, where is it going ? what does she think ? I also wanted to try out the "rounded corners" in Photoshop, so wanted to share this with you.

Dreamy Unicorns

I just finished these three Unicorns for a friend in the UK
(they are on 3x4 inch WC cards ~ slightly larger than ATC's)
She sent me a parcel in the mail this week and it was such a lovely surprise !
It brightened up my day - A bunch of her cards in a box and look at that glass bead!

Oh and click any of the pics to go to her site :)

Where do I go ?

My head is spinning with thoughts and ideas and uncertainties and doubts, but also a neverending curiosity for what's about to come and where will I be going ?
I feel a little like Alice when she falls down the tree, this theme I once used to start making a series of ATC's that still remain a W.I.P. to this day. Maybe I should finish them and find out where I'll be taken next ?

Dream Always

I am making some one-of-a-kind framed praintings *)
I made this one from one of my original ACEO's
The print is done with archival inks on heavy canvas cardstock. I then added another layer of interest and encaustic beeswax.
"Dream Always" is framed in a carefully sourced vintage brass Italian filligree frame and is ready to hang. The frame size is 6.5inch x 5inch or 16.5cm x 13cm
*) a prainting is a painting I create with the starting point being a print of one of my original works.
She is available from my Etsy shop
More framed works are soon to be added to my listings too.

Contemplating..........................Nature vs Nurture...

Here's the latest journal entry in my Mermaid Journal/Sketchbook
I've been working on this one off and on for a little bit now
and I think I finished her
She is thinking about beliefs about drawing and art
and about Nature vs Nurture
... or...
does someone have a gift for creativity
or can it be nurtured /taught ?

I have written in her hair:
"Think.feel.see.create.express~joy.regrets.secrets~
every spot part of my shadow~
every line it's own meaning~
drawing.sketching.painting
HOW could an Artist live without ?""My first Art teacher in Highschool wrote in my poetry booklet:
If one wants to draw, one does not need to have talent
but curiosity and warm attention for everything around"So I used a small copy of this on my right page, to remember this.

My Coffee Table Book

Look, look, look,
I made myself a book !
*
How exciting !
I just received my copy in the mail yesterday.
*
I had two of these books made in December as Christmas gifts for my parents and my sister.
It was a bit of a gamble really, as I did it all on-line and had the books delivered to my parent's house directly.
They loved them and said I should order a copy for myself as well.
I am happy with the result, it's a 24 pages soft cover.
