Christmas Houses

These are some fabric houses I made, the roofs come off
and they can be used as little containers for some Christmas trinkets; little gifts or cookies.
The small ones I made instead of Christmas cards two years ago,
the big ones I filled with home baked cookies as a present.
They give me that Christmas feeling
I want to make more of those now that I found the photos again.

I am trying out this Vintage metal work
or Patina; Quite Rusty, Shiny Things
& Ultimate Verdigris.
I used some bits of a rusty corrigated iron panel and goldleaf and brass and wire.
Faux paint effects to create the verdigris,
loads of fun and still trying more new things.
This one is called "Robot"

Sinterklaas ~ St. Nicholas ~ A Dutch Tradition

So we "Dutchies" have an extra sort of Santa Claus that visits early in December.
He usually arrives somwehere in November from Spain on a big boat with his faithfull helpers.
This children's Feast has songs and goodies and yummie stuff and ....Oh, the memories !!
If you like to know more read this:
or this:

Now, children of Dutch immigrants that live overseas enjoy the best of both worlds really.....they get the Sinterklaas tradition because their parents and grandparents try very hard to teach those kids about this wonderful Feast AND they get Santa with Christmas.
So yeah, my kids are amongst those lucky ones..... and my parents are sending the Sinterklaas treats to us every year faithfully and we LOVE them so !!!
(treats AND grandparents both, hehe)
To watch some videos of the 2009 arrival of Sinterklaas follow this link:

Guardian Angel

" Pay attention to the whispers in your heart...
They could be your Angel speaking to you
and only those of us who will listen quietly with our hearts can hear them "
" Angels are Messengers,
but sometimes we misunderstand their Language "

"Dream" - an entry in my Moleskine Journal

"Hold fast to dreams,
for if dreams die,
life is like a broken-winged bird
that cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams,
for when dreams go,
life is a barren field
frozen with snow"
