Little Moviestar

My little moviestar - alias, the wee Morepork (= New Zealand native owl) is flying out !   I painted him to star in my first on-line class video and then thought, Ah well, I might put him up for sale, and now he's leaving the nest...I will miss him, eventhough I only had him for such a short time. ♥

Corpse Bride - revisited

A fellow artist Theresa from Faerie Moon Creations wrote a blogpost earlier this week about her favorite December-Movies and I have a bunch like that too. One we both seem to like is "Corpse Bride" by Tim Burton, I so looooove this ! I once did a Burtonesque painting inspired by this movie

  

Oh and I also did a set of ATCs in a homage to Mr. B.

Now it just so happened to happen that last night while I was painting on a commission (yes, I am commissioned ! deadline is Xmas !) there was a re-run (they are very good with those here..) of the Corpse Bride on TV and I didn't mind this at all, they can screen this again and again and I still love it, so today when I was trying to be quiet a bit to get rid of my headache, I painted another bride and sewed her on a paper doily and sewed that on a sturdy painted cardboard, I love her ♥ I got to try out how my new Aquabrush works at the same time. She is 22x21 cm and the back is the lovely blue/green paper on the topmost pic. I will put her up for sale, just because I know there are so many Burton fans about and it is just in time for Christmas

I will send her with a bunch of extra's for the festive season ♥

A penny for her thoughts

A work in progress still, this is the first step, coloured pencil sketch, I have yet to decide how to go further still. I like the dreamy gaze, where is it going ? what does she think ? I also wanted to try out the "rounded corners" in Photoshop, so wanted to share this with you.

The blank canvas and the technicolours

Yes my canvas on the big easel is still blank and staring at me every morning. So instead I thought I'll show you my gorgeous box that I use to keep my Prismacolours in. It's an old cutlery box that I found in a small -but oh so yummie- shop last year. The top compartments are all for the pencils and the bottom drawer I use for my Pan pastels and some other harder pastel crayons. Doesn't it look great ? So, well I'll keep you posted on that canvas tough, the ideas are in my head....just have to get them on now !

Fur Babies !

Two of my friends just got FUR BABIES !!

They each have an 11 week old Miniature Schnauzer (they are sisters...the doggies, not the friends...) and tonight we had an impromptu Puppy Shower for them.

It was so much FUN ! We had shortbread biscuits in the shape of doggie bones and other yummie stuff too and of course the two little ones were there as well, receiving their presents.I got them a bag of puppie bones to chew on and some beef jerky treats and I made them a card. Just simple pencil drawings - monochromatic with a little pink on creamy cardstock

a Cinderella Story

Quick, quick, she's late, she's late....

She started out as a Marie Antoinette

she ended up more like a Cinderella

among many other materials

I used the "old stone wall technique"

She is on 15.5' x 20.5' Marine-wood

(that's what they use here to build boats with, hehe)
